Aldeburgh is a tranquil, but flourishing city on the unspoiled Suffolk beach, internationally well known for its annual music celebration founded by Benjamin Britten in 1948. The city also has a strong maritime custom dating back to 1300. There are silent long-shore fishermen who launch their boats from the shingle coast and sell their catches from the black-tarred huts. The region has something for every person, from sports and the arts to stately homes and palaces. The area’s enchanting state lanes, wonderful, conventional cottages and heath land and terraces are all encircled by the scenic, unspoiled village of the Suffolk coastline. Aldeburgh lies in a locality of striking genuine beauty. It has a championship hole golf course, prime sailing on the River Alde, a lot of countryside and coast strolls and several bird reserves not far from. Minsmere Bird Reserve is operated by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds and the Marsh Harrier and Bittern both flourish there. Surrounding Havergate Island is a home of the Avocet. The Alde Estuary is leading with sailors and for keen golfers, there are two challenging courses in golf within several minutes’ drive. Surrounding Snape Maltings provides a place for music all year round, including the world-popular Aldeburgh Festival in June and the Snape Proms in August. Other surrounding sights include the Oysterage at Orford, Framlingham Castle and Leiston Abbey. The town of Norwich is a relatively short trip away.
