Area information

The North Pennines is England's second biggest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Travel information

*From Scotland through the A74/A74(M): - At Carlisle, follow the M6 and exit at mix 43. - Take the A69 exit to Brampton and Newcastle. - About ten miles further on take the A689 signposted Alston. - Follow the A689 through Hallbankgate and Slaggyford onto Alston. - Turn left onto the A686. *From Newcastle: - From the ringroad take the A69 west, signed Corbridge, Hexham and Carlisle. - About 6 miles past the Hexham exit take the A686 signed Langley Castle and Alston. - Follow the highway through Whitfield and onto Alston. - Lowbyer Manor is around 200 m past the 30 mph speed restriction signs on the left hand side. *From the West: - Leave the M6 at fusion 40 (Penrith) and follow the A686 from Penrith to Alston over Hartside upper. - You'll enter Alston over the antique stone bridge across the South Tyne River. Staying on this lower highway, yet the A686, now signposted Hexham. - Lowbyer Manor is around half a mile out of Alston. Drive past the two garages on your left hand side, past the South Tynedale Preservation steam railway, round the sharp left hand bend and the Manor is the commodious white Georgian cottage, set high in its own woody grounds on the right hand side. Our 100 foot high Sequoia tree is a famous landmark. *From the East (M1/A1): - Take the A66 at Scotch Corner for Barnard Castle. - From Barnard Castle, follow the idyllic B6277 over the moors, through Middleton in Teesdale, past Garrigill into Alston. - Follow the principal street down the steep cobbled hill to the T-junction at the bottom. - Turn right onto the A686 for Hexham. - Continue as above.

Lowbyer Manor was constructed in the late 18th century and is a grade II listed property. The Manor has 9 en apartment letting suites, every with facilities of making tea/coffee and color TVs.

Cancellation policy

Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to three days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged. Whether cancelled later or in case of no-show, the entire price of the reservation will be charged. Kids and Extra Bed Policy: All kids are welcome. All kids under two years staying free when using existing bedding. All kids under two years staying free for cots. All older kids or groun-ups are charged GBP 14. 00 per night and individual for additional beds. Maximum holding capacity of supplementary beds/babycots in a apartment is 1. Deposit Policy: 50 percent of the entire amount will be charged on the day of booking and is refundable. Vat and city/tourist taxes: VAT is included. Facilities charge is included. City/tourist tax is not applicable. Internet connection: Wired internet connection is obtainable in public zone and is free. Meal Plan: Full English breakfast is included in the apartment rate.
