Ambleside is located at the northern part of Windermere – the largest lake of Lake District.

It is situated in five hours rail from London, from Manchester it will take two hours to get there. Windermere is an integral part of Ambleside, the lake is the beauty and the main attraction of this fine city. National Park Visitor Centre is a wonderful place where you can stroll among famous Thomas Mawson gardens. Among other Ambleside attractions are Windermere lake cruises, Hill Top House, Boat landings, Cookhouse gallery, Wordsworth Trust/Dove Cottage Museum, Barngates Brewery, Bridge House and many other sights and attractions.
