In a spectacular rustic setting in the historic Rydal Valley amid the fells, this majestic Victorian building dates back to 1848. Crow How was constructed as a farm cottage in 1848 from the stones of antique Rydal Hall.
It was then converted into a state holiday hotel in the early 1930s. Crow How has been thoroughly renewed to give you a well-located Ambleside bed & breakfast, perfect for exploration the the nice Lake District.

From the South - Leave M6 motorway at Junction 36, turn left onto the A591 & follow this highway for about 18 miles, till you get to the traffic lights in the suburbs of Ambleside. At the lights, take the left fork and follow this highway for about 1. five miles till it becomes a two-lane, one-way avenue. Remain in the left hand lane and follow the highway round. The highway then becomes 2 lanes as you get to the boutiques, you need to be in the left hand lane. Turn left at the upper and follow this highway for approximately a mile and you'll see the sign for Crow How on the left hand side of the highway. We are at the base of this driveway. From the North - Junction 40, M6 motorway. Follow signs for Keswick, then the B5322 (St. Johns in the Vale) to Thirlmere and Grasmere and then Rydal. Soon after passing Rydal Water you'll see the sign for Crow How on the right hand side of the highway. By Public Transport - Windermere is the closest station (5 miles). At Windermere station you are able to either take the '555' bus heading towards Keswick, or you are able to take a cab through to Crow How Country House.

Area information
Situated in the center of the Lake District, we are in an idyllic and solitary situation, encircled by hills and fells but only ten minutes stroll away from Ambleside with its boutiques, bars and restaurants. Grasmere is only ten minutes drive away, with Keswick a further 10 min away. Windermere, Kendal, Coniston and Hawkshead are also easily accessed within half an hour. Waterhead is only twenty mins stroll away where you are able to catch frequent boat trips to Bowness and Lakeside, where the Aquarium is located. We have the entire timetables for both the boats and for buses. Encircled by fells and hills and with 3 gorgeous lakes virtually on your door you're spoilt for choice with strolls and hikes to suit all abilities. We are perfectly situated for all the principal hills and strolls with beautiful strolling books and leaflets to assist you in your choice of stroll and we have lively undercover storage service for Mountain Bikes. There are 5 courses in golf within half an hour drive, from the long and demanding Keswick Golf Course to the tight and tricky Windermere Golf Course.

Cancellation policy
Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 14 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged. Whether cancelled up to two days before date of arrival, the 1st night will be charged. Whether cancelled later or in case of no-show, the entire price of the reservation will be charged. Kids and Extra Bed Policy: Children cannot be accommodated at the guesthouse. There is no holding capacity for additional beds/cots in the suite. Deposit Policy: No deposit will be charged. Vat and city/tourist taxes: 15 % VAT is included. Amenities charge is not applicable. City/tourist tax is not applicable. I-net: Wireless I-net is obtainable in some hotel suites and is free. Wi-fi i-net is obtainable in public zone and is free.
