The newly renewed restaurant caters regularly changing seasonal specials, using the best ingredients from local suppliers. Up to 60 diners able to be accommodated for peculiar events. Area information

Appleby is located in the heart of the Eden Valley, only 18 miles from Ullswater, and 25 miles from Lake Windermere. The historic border town of Carlisle is only 30 miles away, as is Kendal, a main Lakes treveller destination. Appleby brags a 10th century palace and is only a ten minutes drive from Centre Parcs. Just one minute off the A66, the inn is the perfect half-way stopping point between the A1/M1 (Scotch Corner) and Scotland.

Travel information

The inn is located on the A66, 13 miles from Penrith (junction 40 on the M6), and twenty-four miles from Scotch Corner on the A1. North West hiking customers should leave the M6 at mix 38 and travel through Tebay/Orton onto Appleby, about a ten minutes trip. Appleby has it own train station on the Carlisle to Settle line and is approximately half a mile from the Royal Oak.

Important information

Well behaved dogs are welcome in the guesthouse suites (2 of which lead straight out onto the garden) at a charge of 12. 50 GBP per night per dog. Dogs are not allowed in the hall brasserie or restaurants, however, pets can come over our Tap Room brasserie. Kids are welcome in all regions. As the Royal Oak is a seventeenth centuty building, we are unable to propose any service for the disabled.

Cancellation policy

Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to three days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged. Whether cancelled later or in case of no-show, the 1st night will be charged. Kids and Extra Bed Policy: All kids are welcome. All kids under 1 year staying free when using existing bedding. All kids under two years staying free for cots. All older kids or groun-ups are charged GBP ten. 00 per night and individual for supplementary beds. Maximum holding capacity of supplementary beds/babycots in a suite is 1. Deposit Policy: No deposit will be charged. Vat and city/tourist taxes: VAT is included. Amenities charge is included. City/tourist tax is included.
