About Chichester, UK
The city centre of Chichester stands on the foundations of the Roman city of Noviomagus and close to the Roman Palace known as Fishbourne.
The streets of Chichester have a cross-shaped layout which was inherited from the Romans: radiating out from the medieval market cross lead the South, North, East and West shopping streets. Chichester cathedral is one of the main attractions of the city is dedicated to the Holy Trinity and within the nave of the cathedral the remains of a Roman mosaic pavement can be seen. Among other attractions are the remains of the Roman amphitheatre which is now buried under land currently used as a park, but nowadays one bank of the amphitheatre is clearly discernible and an information board in the park gives more information.
