Douglas is a village in South Lanarkshire, Scotland which is located on the south bank of the Douglas Water.

Did you know that the name Douglas origins of Gaelic and means black water. The Douglas family, once they were the most powerful family in Scotland, took this name when their ancestors settled here in the 12th century. Among Douglas attractions are Castle Dangerous, Castlemains, St Bride's Church Old St Bride's Church dates to the late 14 century where the tombs of the Douglas family are placed. Among Douglas monuments are the monuments of Earl of Angus, also Polish Memorial Garden. Douglas Heritage Museum will shed more light on turbulent Scottish history of this site.
