About Inveraray, UK
Inveraray was destroyed in 1644 by the Royalist Marquess of Montrose, then rebuilt by the 3rd Duke of Argyll.
The 140-foot bell tower, part of the Episcopal Church of All Saints, is home to the world's second-heaviest ring of bells. The Victorian jail has been refurbished and open for display. For centuries the Dukes of Argyll lived in nearby Inveraray Castle, which dates from the early 16th-century and was rebuilt in the later 18th-century. The castle is open year-round.
