About Natural History Museum, UK

The Natural History Museum was opened in 1881, but its foundation was made more than 250 years before it was officially opened.

The natural science collections are considered as the finest in Europe and are divided into five main collections: Botany, Mineralogy, Entomology, Palaeontology and Zoology. Here you will see an incredible assortment of gems, reptile, fungi, minerals, mammal, fish, bacteria, plant, bird and insect specimens gathered from around the world. The museum owns such unique collections of specimens collected by Darwin, botanist Joseph Banks (he collected his natural history elements during 1768-1771 voyage with Captain James Cook aboard HMS Endeavour). And what makes this fascinating museum even more attractive is the fact that entry is free!
