About Painswick, UK
Painswick is a village in the Gloucestershire countryside, surrounded by the Cotswolds.
It developed as a wool town. New Street, constructed around 1428 when the wool and cloth trade was flourishing, contains the oldest building in England to contain a post office. Many of the town's beautiful buildings are constructed of the mellow Cotswold stone, from the local quarry on Painswick Beacon.
