Sligo is a city and seaport in Ireland, the capital of County Sligo.

It's 134 miles by rail northwest of Dublin. The city has the ruins of a 13th-century monastery, which was partially destroyed by fire in the fifteenth, and again in the 17th, centuries. Sligo is one of the principal ports of the west beach of Ireland.
