Marvellous seventeenth centuty detached cottage located in the heart of the historical Norman countryside of Stansted Mountfitchet. Our visitor lodging is individualy colored and provided to an exceptionally high standard. Only 10 minutes by auto from Stansted Airport and a 3 minute stroll from Stansted Mountfitchet train station. The guesthouse is located in the heart of this historical countryside with a lot of features dating back to the sixteenth century.
There is a generous selection of restaurants all within several mins stroll of Chimneys, including four pubs and six restaurants in addition to three take-aways. Whether you're searching for a soothing break in this delightful part of England or simply needing to be close to Stansted Airport, we are confident you are sure to like your staying. Unfortunately the inn has no elevator.

Conventional English farmstead styling. The Cambridge apartment - enhanced with fushia pink and English roses - with crisp white linen with rose detailing. This room is equipped a superior sized white tiled adjacent shower suite. The Lavenham apartment - enhanced with lilac and English state bunchs of flowers - with crisp white linen with hand embroidered sprigs of Lavender. This room is equipped a charming shower suite with open beams. Facing historic Lower Street.

Travel information
By Car - Take blend 8 on the M11, signposted to the A120, Hertford, Bishop’s Stortford. - Take the exit off the roundabout signposted Hertford and Bishops Stortford. - Go direct across the 1st roundabout and continue along this highway till you arrive to another roundabout. - Take the 3rd exit, signposted B1383 Newport, Mountfitchet Castle and Audley End House. - Continue for approximately one mile on this highway and you'll enter the countryside of Stansted Mountfitchet. - You will pass the Old Bell Public House on your right, go down the hill and up the other side. - At the upper of the hill you'll uncover a right turn for Chapel Hill (B1051, signposted Elsenham). - Chapel Hill is immediately before the Total Garage. Turn right into Chapel Hill. - Go down Chapel Hill, passing the fire station on your right. - At the base of the hill you'll come to a foot passenger crossing, and the Kings Arms Public cottage. Turn left and you're now in Lower Street. - Continue along Lower Street and when you approach the fork in the highway (Flutes Wine & Tapas Bar will be in facade of you), take the left-hand highway and Chimneys is the 3rd cottage on the right. (If you're going up hill by the traffic lights you have taken the wrong road). Overnight parking zone is available for visitors on the gravel drive immediately to the right of the cottage. (Look out for the brown treveller signs for Mountfitchet Castle which is located at the end of Lower Street, in the countryside of Stansted. ) By Rail: Take a train to the Village of Stansted Mountfitchet (please note this is not the same station as Stansted Airport). Chimneys is situated about 200 yards’ flat stroll from the station. Whether hiking from the south (London Liverpool Street), as you alight from the train leave the station and stroll down the highway past the Saab garage and towards the major highway. Cross this highway outside the Kings Arms pub at the Pelican Crossing, continue direct ahead along Lower Street. Whether you go up a hill you're going the wrong way. Continue along Lower Street past the Queens Head, cobblers, newsagents etc., and you'll come to a fork in the highway, with the Flutes Wine & Tapas Bar on the corner. Take the left fork and Chimneys is the 3rd cottage on the right. From the North (Cambridge, Stansted Airport): As you alight from the train it's easier not to cross over the foot bridge but to exit the station adjacent to the waiting apartment and stroll up the ramp (this will avoid the stairs). When you reach the upper of the ramp, cross over the highway and turn left, stroll over the bridge and down to the crossroads. Turn right and you're now in Lower Street. Stroll past the butchers and Bada Bing Italian restaurant, and when you reach the fork in the highway with Flutes Wine & Tapas Bar in the corner, take the left fork. Chimneys is the 3rd cottage on the right. (If you're going up hill by the traffic lights you have taken the wrong road). Trains to Stansted Airport stop at the countryside each half hour between 05. 42 and 08. 09 and then run hourly at five mins past the hour. Trip time to the terminal is five mins. Trains from Stansted Airport tend to run hourly at 33 mins past the hour, several additional trains run during the evening rush hour. The trip takes five mins.

Important information
Please let us know in good time your approximate time of arrival for check-in. As Chimneys is a 400 year old house, please be aware that there is a steep staircase and low beams in regions of the structure. Payment Information: Chimneys is unable to accept American Express or Diners cards.
Cancellation policy
Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 1 day before the date of arrival, no fee will be charged. Whether cancelled later or in case of no-show, the entire price of the reservation will be charged. Kids and Extra Bed Policy: All kids are welcome. All kids under two years staying free when using existing bedding. There is no holding capacity for additional beds/cots in the suite. Deposit Policy: No deposit will be charged. Vat and city/tourist taxes: VAT is included. Facilities charge is included. City/tourist tax is not applicable. Internet connection: Wireless internet connection is obtainable in the whole hotel and is free. Meal Plan: Full English breakfast is included in the apartment rate. Car parking: Free social car parking is available on spot. Pets: Pets are allowed on demand. No supplementary charges. The inn reserves the right to pre-authorise credit cards prior to arrival.
